Cold Walls, Condensation or Recurring Mould?
Internal wall insulation solutions for cold walls, condensation and mould across Surrey
If certain walls in your home feel freezing cold in winter and repeatedly suffer from condensation or mould, we can assess the cause and recommend a suitable internal insulation solution.
Does This Sound Familiar?
Cold external walls can cause certain rooms to feel uncomfortable throughout winter and, in some cases, contribute to condensation and recurring mould.
Common signs include:
-
Mould repeatedly appearing on the same external wall
-
Walls that feel noticeably cold to the touch
-
Condensation forming during colder weather
-
Mould behind wardrobes or furniture
-
Bedrooms that are difficult to keep warm
-
The same problem returning after cleaning or redecorating
If this sounds familiar, the first step is understanding why the wall is getting cold and whether internal insulation could help.

A Different Approach to Cold Walls
Where cold wall surfaces are contributing to condensation or mould, improving the surface temperature of the wall can make a real difference. Our cork-based internal insulation system contains aerogel to enhance its thermal performance while keeping the overall build-up relatively thin.
Thin Cork Internal Wall Insulation
Where cold external walls are contributing to condensation or recurring mould, we can apply a cork-based internal insulation system directly to the internal wall surface.
Our system combines cork with aerogel to improve thermal performance within a relatively thin build-up. This helps raise the internal surface temperature of the wall while avoiding the space loss associated with thicker insulated plasterboard systems.
By creating a warmer internal surface, the system can help reduce the conditions in which surface condensation forms, while also improving comfort within the room.
The system is particularly suited to individual cold walls, bedrooms, problem rooms and properties where a thinner internal insulation solution is preferred.
Key benefits
-
Helps raise internal wall surface temperatures
-
Aerogel-enhanced for improved thermal performance
-
Thin build-up compared with many traditional IWI systems
-
Can help reduce the conditions that lead to surface condensation
-
Vapour-open cork-based system
-
Suitable for individual cold walls and problem rooms
-
Can be finished ready for decoration

When Is Internal Cork Insulation a Good Option?
Internal cork insulation can be used to improve cold external walls across individual rooms or larger areas of a property where surface temperatures are low and condensation, mould or general discomfort are a concern.
One of its main advantages is the relatively thin build-up. Compared with thicker insulated plasterboard systems, it can help improve thermal performance while retaining more usable room space and reducing the need for alterations to skirting boards, sockets, window boards, radiators and other internal finishes.
The cork-based system is also vapour-open, allowing moisture vapour to pass through the build-up rather than trapping it within the wall. This can make it particularly suitable for older or solid-wall properties where breathability is an important consideration.
It can be particularly useful for:
-
Cold solid external walls
-
Bedrooms and living rooms that are difficult to keep warm
-
Recurring condensation or mould on external walls
-
Larger areas where traditional internal insulation would significantly reduce room space
-
Properties where minimising disruption and internal alterations is important
-
Older or solid-wall properties where a breathable, vapour-open system is preferred

Not Every Mould Problem Needs Insulation
Every property is different. Condensation and mould can be caused by cold wall surfaces, poor ventilation, leaks, penetrating moisture or a combination of factors. We assess the affected area first and only recommend internal insulation where we believe cold surface temperatures are contributing to the problem.
We specialise in plastering, insulation and breathable wall systems, with a strong focus on solving cold wall, condensation and mould problems properly.
Rather than simply covering over the issue, we look at what is causing the problem and recommend a solution suited to the property.
